Over the river and through the tunnels... (now in color!)
Spent today with Alex. Fun fun! First, I woke up really late because I forgot to take my phone (which is my alarm) off of vibrate. Woke up around 12:30. Noticed Alex had called, so I called him back and we made plans to meet at Jamaica at 1:30-something. So I quickly got dressed and ran out of the house. Caught a more-than-a-dollar dollar cab to Sutphin/Archer and hopped up onto the tracks where I waited for my buddy.
We bought Fun Passes (which were a lot more fun when they were $4 and paid for themselves in three rides) and were on our merry way (well, I was. Alex had a little trouble when he tried to use the MetroCard because he didn't know how. I laughed. Subway n00b). We had no real destination, so we picked a random one: Seventh Ave. ... There's nothing to do on Seventh Ave. (as far as I know) other than transfer to the D. But then Alex mentioned a candy store, so I decided to take him to Dylan's on 3rd. I told him that when he walked in and inhaled, he'd get a couple of cavities from the smell. I love Dylan's. So much chocolate. @_@;;
Someone tried to jump on the tracks at Union Tpke, I think. FDNY (read it like a word: "FID-knee") was there when we passed, but they were so hovered around this guy I couldn't see anything. Aw man. I wanted to see goriness. I didn't get a chance to watch the news tonight, either (cuz I was playing a game. ^_^) so I don't know what happened, exactly.
I met up with Michael R (Jessica's dad... Jessica was my best friend in elementary school. We started to grow apart when I nerded out and she stayed cool. Le sigh). Interesting. I almost didn't recognize him and he almost didn't recognize me. Jessica's doing great for herself, and I was so happy to hear it. She graduated Rutgers in the spring and started her first semester of grad school. ^_^ Good for you, Jess. Congrats!
We meandered about Dylan's but Alex needed his money, so we walked down 3rd to a Bank of America so he could quit his whining, then ate lunch at Subway (Jared wouldn't eat the chips we ate. :3 A cop car passed and Alex deemed it "nipped." Well, FDNY was Fidnee, so why couldn't NYPD be Nipped? And it works. "Brotha got Nipped, yo." Son. Homey G Dawg Funk. o_O;; Shutting up now). I felt like I was walking back to All-City. X_X I haven't been there since August. Sorry, you guys. I still love you! I'll visit soon, I promise! .... I really hope I can, anyway. Another hop on the subway (the 4 this time). Took him to Book-Off.
Not much fun to be had there, considering we couldn't read most of what was available, though Alex noticed the copies of Rave Master available. It was just interesting to see. Went back on the subway and Alex noticed what he THOUGHT was a *suspicious package* but was really just an empty black plastic bag. I can tell. The seasoned subway rider that I am. Went down another stop to JHU for manga-ness. Alex wa a bit overwhelmed, as was I my first time there. I managed to pick up two volumes because I haven't treated myself in a while. Ohhh, but look at how my pocket emptied. X_X
Hopped on the Q because I decided we needed a yellow train and went into Brooklyn. Not such a bad idea at first. Bad idea was hopping on the Franklin Ave. shuttle. There was a random crazy subway dude going on about how he was the second coming of Jesus, motherfuckers, and how he hated gays and lesbians, motherfuckers, and didn't want them on his train and in his city, motherfuckers. It was hilarious, and I was biting my lip to keep from laughing. It didn't work so well after a while. Alex was scared since he was just about the only non-brown person there (there was one other girl), and well, creepy subway dude in Brooklyn. We got off at the next stop. ^_^;; Transferred to the 3, then back to the Q because the 3 was ridiculously slow.
Took the Q back up to Times Square. We recaffinated at Starbucks (ven-tee. Hee hee) and then went to Toys R Us. Augh. We got attacked for a front entrance photo and I was like "Nooo I worked at Radio City no more photos John Shawn BAD!" Took Alex downstairs to the video game section. Bought Harvest Moon for GC. Yay! Alex was playing with the PlayStation logo on the floor, so I took him upstairs to the second floor where that nifty ... thing ... on the floor is, that you can step on and it changes? You know what I'm talking about. Anyway. We played with that for a GOOD long while, and then we decided it was time to go back home. Walked through the station for what seemed like a freakin' half hour, then got on the E (shoulda taken the 7), which we took back to Jamaica. He had just missed an express train to Babylon (i.e., the next stop was Babylon) so we waited a half hour for his train.
Then I waited ten minutes for mine. I finally used that ticket I bought in October!!
Started up a new HM file. It's... vastly different from FoMT. It'll take some getting used to. Read my manga. And now I typed this up, so I'm tired. Good night. ^_^
