There is no joy in Mudville.

So I don't think I'm gonna get my hair straightened, or at least, not magically straightened. I'm really nervous about it, and I'm not sure I want Korean ladies poking around my head when Korean ladies do NOT have my kind of bird's nest, I mean, hair (I use the term loosely). Alternatively, I could see if any of the Dominican salons could do it, because they'd be cool with my hair, but would they understand me? Would I understand them? Finally, there's a salon in Manhattan that looks like they might know what they're doing (the girls in the photos are BROWN!), but the price is really high; they said it starts at $300-700. YIKES. I could do the three hundred and I'm willing to spend every penny I've saved ($450) but I don't want to be broken, either. On top of that, reservations are required and I don't think a day is enough notice. It'd be nice, though, to have someone who speaks English natively and knows that my hair is impossible, playing with it, for a change.

My options are these: I can get my hair relaxed regularly and have it rain the day before I-Con and waste $50, flat-iron it myself and be frustrated and tired or I can not do it at all. Super secret and highly improbable option number four is to call the Manhattan salon and see if I can go NEXT week, but it's still short notice. Much praying and maybe a small sacrifice (lambs, babies, etc.) to appease the gods would be required.

Thank the Goddesses it's not PROM season!

So what do you guys think I should do? D: I really want pretty, stick-straight hair....
