My mouse finally died.

My stupid mouse -- that I bought, like, six years ago at Stony Brook -- finally gave out. It had been prone to random spaz-outs where it would just dart around the screen and open (or close) random shit. It was highly annoying, but if I just let it sit for a few seconds and do its thing, as trying to control it would make the spazzing worse, then it would right itself. Sometimes, it would altogether freeze, and I'd unplug it for a few seconds, then plug it back in and it would be okay. Rarely, I'd have to reboot the entire system, but it would still be okay. No longer the case.

It gave out last night, and as it was late and I had a headache (I guess from my ponytail being too tight, and piccolo practice? I'm not really sure), I decided to screw it, and let it wait until the morning. I unplugged it a few times, that didn't work. I restarted a few times, that didn't work. And once I restarted with the mouse unplugged to begin with, the computer didn't recognize the mouse or the keyboard, so I have no method of input with that thing. It's now a very large paperweight. All because I don't have a mouse.

I'm meant to go out with Lou today, but it's snowing a lot. I don't mind the snow so much because I'm not in a rush to get anywhere, but it's still annoying, doubly so because I didn't know we were supposed to get. She will probably off in the city anyway, as she needs new reeds -- her band is playing at the Inauguration next week! -- so I might tag along, if only to find a shop to get a new mouse and to get the T-square Lou said she would lend me (so I can be nerdy).

I told Lou in comments that architecture and related fields were suggested to me, by many people, as a possible career path, especially because I was so good at technical drawing (I used to do other people's plates for them in high school, and I made a few bucks), and had lots of building toys when I was a kid. I would have considered it, only math was my first love, so as we all know, I decided to pretend to study that. The decision against architecture was further cemented when I met a Tech student in the architecture major. He was so proud of his designs, but they were so hideous and generally stupid-looking (classic Venus: function over form), that I figured if that was what architecture students were being taught, then it was a damn fine thing I didn't want to learn it! Augh.

Also, yes, there was a dream, but damned if I remember it now. I've been up for over an hour, and so it has floated out of my head. I don't even remember if it was a good dream, or a bad dream, but I still can't shake this first-thing-I-think-of-when-I-wake-up nonsense.
