Hetalia meetup.
Sadly, not as cool as I thought it was going to be.
First, I coudn't get to sleep last night, which was annoying. I took a nap in the middle of the day Friday, and then I was up until three. 9_9 But, my body woke itself up at eight, and I couldn't get back to sleep after that (my alarm was for nine). I tried, but after a half-hour of reading and not growing drowsy, I decided to jump in the shower.
Got that mess taken care of, then got dressed and *just* caught the bus, then train. I hate going on sidequests such as the one I went on this afternoon: I had no problem hoofin' it for 1st Ave., but 46th St. was the hard part: the train stops are at 42 and 51 (with an exit at 50) and LEX. So it took forever to walk to the damn UN, changing shoes along the way because I was going to get a blister on my toe.
All for a couple of flags. I didn't even FIND them right away because they weren't in terrible alphabetical order. I found Seychelles last, on the top of the display and in the back of the row, and that's when I discovered that there are more flags behind the counter. Augh.
Hiked over to Kino to meet Nicole and Erica. At the UN, I'd bought Erica a mini Spanish flag, because she was supposed to cosplay Spain, and a Belarusian one on the offchance that she did Belarus instead. She showed up in bootleg!casual!China, and I hit her. XD On the other hand, my Seychelles was full of win. Erica has a picture, and if she doesn't post it, I'll do it again for NYAF or something. There's a meet on Saturday, apparently.
Anyway, at the park, we found the group and... the two of us were the only cosplayers. AUGH, FAIL SO HARD. One of the girls changed into Korea later, but still. Eventually more cosplayers showed up; in the end there was me and Erica, HOng Kong, that Korea, Japan, America, Canada, Italy, Austria, and Hungary. Most of the cosplays were pretty cheap and most of the people there weren't in cosplay. AND WE WERE ALL CHICKS. It was extremely disappointing.
At least the food was awesome! Nicole brought PASTA~~~~ salad, chick peas, and tea eggs, all of which I had lots of, and I would have had more, were I not trying not to make a pig of myself and leave some for everyone else. Austria (whose mole I had to draw on later in the day, lol) had brought some light and fluffy cookies that were tasty as hell (mmm France, you melt in my mouth LAWL). The girls who organized the event had sushi and candies. There were also soybeans later in the day, pizza, and lychee jelly.
I suffered an allergy attack, but I don't know what triggered it. Either way, it was pretty shitty. That, and I was losing energy FAST in the middle of the day. There was a short trip to Book Off and Zaiya and I started to perk back up, but I had to run to Starbucks later in teh afternoon for tea for my sinuses. D:
People started to trickle away slowly. Nicole, Erica, and I actually had more fun after the picnic was over and everyone else left; we stayed in the park until ten o'clock, then took Nicole to Penn Station. We met her friend Diana while we were there, waited with her for her train, and then Erica and I left.
I took a Benadryl and I'm extremely tired, so I'm gonna go pass out now. I wouldn't mind another (more in-character, more (gender-ly) diverse, less yaoi-ed, better-planned) picnic in the future, though.... Fuck, tomorrow's gonna be SO BORING by comparison, especially with all this damned laundry I have to do. D:
Edit, 9 August, 1453 - I found a picture I was in! Unfortunately, the camera effects made it blurry (y u do dis camera guy), but I'm quite visible. I like to call it "Pangaea." I also like to think myself clever, ohohoho. >.>;;;
Edit, 10 August, 0154 - Seychelles. I'm making a weird face because I had food in my mouth and couldn't smile. On top of my head is the fish from my Dominic costume, and in my hand is the Seychellois flag I got at the UN. :D Thanks, Erica, for the picture~ (I AM WEARING A DRESS OH SHI--)
