So yesterday afternoon, I finally finished FFX. :::insert victory fanfare here::: While I was watching the ending movies and stuff, Ingrid called me. I told her to wait... keep waiting... keep freakin' waiting.... would you like to watch a short movie with me? -_-

When I was finally able to address her, she told me she accidentally kicked one of the cords under the computer loose and then the machine was no longer able to go online. AGAIN. :::kicks compy::: So I told her what to do, and she followed, while I took a shower. Still no dice when I got out. I called myself and said that I just needed to reconfigure my IP address but I forgot how to do it, and I knew the nice people would help me.

"Hi, I'm Scott. My badge number is XXXXX, and your wait time was seventeen seconds. How can I help you today?"
"Wow.... that was... informative! :::chuckle:::"

So anyway, Scott helped me as much as he could, but the IP we kept getting was all zeroes, so he said to call my ISP. Wonderful. -_- Again, I had Ingrid do it while I was at Shaina's. She called me later, asking if I had a USB cord. Um.... we shouldn't need one. We never used one before. That's silly. When I got home, I looked at the compy and as it turned out, the ethernet card was just disabled, so I enabled it and everything was (relatively) back to normal. Stupid ISP people.

I called them myself and the woman who helped me asked if two lights on the cable box were on. When I said they were, she said there was nothing she could do. Isn't it nice that their troubleshooting consists of "Is this cord plugged in? Okay, is the other cord plugged in?" So during one of the MANY restarts, we got this really funky IP. I mean, totally out there, with letters and colons and even a percent sign. Cable-lady said they'd send someone to take a look at it, but the next available slot they had was Wednesday.

"Today's Wednesday," I said.
"No, the seventh."
"..."
"Ma'am?"

I called compy tech support and told them of the funky IP and they said they'll "send a box". Great. Another three months, I guess, before this is all fixed. Fucking.... So I called Lynda and she said she could help me try to fix Frank via the old Dell (like I tried to do in July), to see if we can get at least ONE working machine in the house (and she'll help me wipe my hard drive clean, too, so it'll go a little faster. Yay) until this all gets solved. I really hope she can.

Of course, I'm at the library right now. I'm on my second half-hour session (and might possibly go for a third because there's no one here. Yay early, lol), and am pleased that they've taken LJ off the block list. At least I can let you all know that I will be scarce over the next week, at the least. Oh! And don't bug me over the weekend. After tomorrow, all the libraries are closed until Tuesday. Fucking Labor Day.

:::hugs compy. misses school.:::
