Phill's Graduation
Aug. 26th, 2005 01:04 amWell, what can I say? It was a graduation. Fifteen people repeating themselves for like, an hour and a half (I HATE graduations), and then awards and crap. Then five more people say the same thing, then we go. It'd be so much easier if someone -- you'd think the valedictorian would be smart enough to do this, but they seem to ramble on longer than anyone! -- would say "Hi, everyone. Congrats! Later." THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE would erupt because, my Goddesses, that would be the best speech ever. Concise, precise, and... yeah.
So Phill's an official Paramedic in New York, now, which is awesome. He also got a perfect attendance award. :3 But the hellish year is FINALLY over, so we can all relax and have a life again. And Phill's one more step closer to being a real adult. I'm SO proud of him; the feeling is fantastic.

*Most* of the graduating class. I took as wide a shot as I possibly could without any heads in the foreground, but I still cut off a couple on the ends. Debra, one of Phill's partners over the course of the year, is third from the left. Phill himself is second right. Olga, the woman who conceived and gave birth to a child over the course of the class is the woman in front of the screen; Will, the valedictorian, who's SOOOO cool, is three to the right of Olga, and Brent, who came all the way from TRINIDAD just to study Paramedicine at LaG, is to Will's left.
The cake.
We stopped at Corona after dinner and Phill and his current partner, Dennis, set off a road flare, for celebration, I guess. Those things are bright -- duh -- but good LORD, do they stink! They're magnesium, so I guess that's what does it (Phill told me they'll even burn underwater). I took four shots, but I like this one the best because the only light was coming from the flare itself. And I caught the flame's shadow, which I thought was really neat.
Finally, because I promised a picture eventually, it's me and Phill. Yay, we're a happy couple. I don't know if it's the angle or maybe cuz he's just not as photogenic as I am (what? Venus isn't being modest?!!?), but he looks funny. Well, he always does, but here, especially. XD One day, I'm gonna get a good picture of him.....
