Went back in my dad's closet looking for suit jackets, and have determined that the things are indeed held together by magic. I took a look at the hem of a jacket with a vent in it -- mine will have two -- and found a blind hem. Wait, no,
two blind hems (how is that possible?!). They were done in dark thread on a lightish suit and I don't see the pinpricks of dark thread anywhere, with no hint of how the thing is closed up. Sorcery, I say!
Took a closer look at the vent itself, and I see that I did the lining wrong. "If I rip it out part way and then attach it... and then I can turn it inside-out, sew... pop it back out... WAIT A SECOND! I think I've got it!"
And so I put it into practice on one side of the jacket (not both, just in case I screwed up), and it works. Perfectly. There's a small bit in the corner where I'll have to put in a blind hem (something else to learn, hohoho), but that's it. And, again, the pictures I took came out really crappy so I don't have any. But I'll be sure to take them on Friday in natural light. That takes care of the two outside bits. Almost done with the first, will get to the second as soon as I'm through.
As for the center, I'm not quite sure. I'll work on the outsides first and then come in, but I think I've got an idea of what's going on, which is a
huge weight off my shoulders, and a lot of my confidence back. I almost wish I had skill enough to enter craftsmanship competitions. |D In the meantime, celebratory cup of tea! Mmmm, orange spice.
( As for work.... )I'm very glad I get paid tomorrow, but unfortunately, I think it's time to start looking for another job. That makes me a very deep kind of sad. ;A; BUT MY JACKET!
Happy birthday,
fishwindows!
Edit, 5:09 AM - I'm a witch, apparently, because I just did magic. Save the buttons (which I haven't bought yet) and the buttonholes,
the jacket is done! Everything is beautiful and it fits like a dream! I'd be more excited if I weren't exhausted, though.... So I just took a shower and now I'm going to take a two-hour nap before getting ready for work.
HURR DURR it'll all be worth it when I'm not frantically sewing in the car on the way to Katsu ... or in the hotel room at six in the morning. LOL 2008
