I've got a head for numbers.

Not necessarily doing anything with them -- though the rest of ichiP! keeps me around to split checks -- except remembering them.

Long story short, filling out job applications is kind of easy because I don't have to think about or double-check my driver's license number, my SSN, dates I've worked, or phone numbers (or addresses) for references. I just write them down because I remember them all.

During my senior year of high school, I was so bored out of my skull in history class that instead of paying attention, I memorized digits of pi. Many of you know that, and I'm sure that I just surprised a few people who didn't know. What most people don't know, or remember, is how far I'd gotten. Of course, I do: two hundred sixty digits. I can't do that much anymore -- I haven't recited in years -- but I can still spit out over a hundred, I'm certain. (To be fair, I was deceived about the course content. I signed up for, and was told it was going to be, "History of New York City," which was a bus I could TOTALLY get all up ons. Instead it was like "AMERICAN HISTORY LOL" with a smattering of New York. In June. After the teacher told me I'd mathematically failed, and I'd stopped going to class (triple lunch period ftw!).)

And speaking of being in school, I hated my ID number in high school because it was an insult: 3456. Lots of people said it was cute because it was easy to remember; I hated it for that same reason. At least 3785 or something weird. But, what's crazy is, that fifteen years after graduating grade school, I still remember my OSIS number: 228078523. It's just a string of nine digits, and nothing particularly memorable about it.

I remember birthdays of my classmates from kindergarten. I remember phone numbers that haven't worked in years. I remember times and dates. The timestamp on this entry is 12:26 PM. The number of the bus I rode for the first few years of grade school was 1226. I remember so much stupid information (and none of the important information), and I don't know why, nor have I found any practical application for it, unless saving a few seconds when trying to get a job counts. I'm sure it doesn't.

Man, I can't, I shan't, formulate an anthem where the words comprise mnemonics -- dreaded mnemonics -- for pi....

¡Amigos!

Yesterday, I chilled with Michele for a little while. She got held up late after class, and then went the wrong way on the subway, so that sucked about an hour out of our funtiems. We spent at least another hour in Starbucks trying to get warm and dry and wait out the rain, but that didn't happen. We wanted to go run around the garment district, but that also didn't happen, because we didn't want to get soaked-er than we were. In the end, we wound up back at Pratt, and I read her psych book to her aloud while she made bean soup and rice for dinner. By the time I left, it had stopped raining, and while it was a short time together, it was fun.

Today, I was with Guillermo. He's got a new kitten, and I was wary of wandering into the apartment, but I didn't seem to react so badly. Sure, I was coughing and itchy, but I didn't reach for my lifesaver at all. We started to catch him up on season three of Avatar, and got through the first three episodes before we headed out for dinner at Menkui Tei. Mmmm, ramen. And curry rice. And ice cream. We were going to see Speed Racer, because it's our kind of crack, but the movie was two and a half hours long, and it had just started to rain, so SCREW THAT NOISE. By the time we walked back -- from 14th St. -- we were drenched. We decided to watch the Avengers movie instead, which I thought was pretty neat. I fell asleep during the OMG HUGE FIGHT scene, but I blame it on running like mad after I had just eaten food that was sitting heavily. :/ I tried, though! And then Lord Jasper Edwin von Fishkyins III (that's not his real name, but it SHOULD be) curled up on my lap. Gosh, he's cute. I hope I stay relatively un-allergic to him.

Lastly, I got a birthday card from [livejournal.com profile] _lysia_ today. Thank you! I totally forgot that she sends me a card every year! XD And thanks to everyone else who wished me a happy birthday; you made my day!

Edit: 22 May 08:05, So, cruising my flist this morning, I wasn't expecting to see my stage name, like, anywhere. But it was, because Stefanie drawed me a picture of ... me. I love it; she even drew my big butt! XD (Also, please to be checking out the rest of her site as her arts are full of the skillz dat killz (I made so many "typos" writing that just now; it's like my fingers WANT me to spell things correctly!).)

Kinda... makes me wish I would be social tomorrow. Hey, slut. Are we still up for Friday?
