TODAY WAS A DAY

Canucks gave out an early purchase promo code today and... )

Practice went well today. I still feel like crap, I was dancing like crap, but I feel better about Ai Like Hamburger and 2 Different Tears. I just have to set a day aside and do everything because I've felt, lately, as though I'm cramming for my shows.

But yeah, we had a practice today despite the horrid weather. We found a rain location: the High Line at 16th St., and it makes for some pretty cool background when filming, too (even though it says you can't, or play music, but dude was there with a tenor sax (I said it felt like we were in a bad episode of Cowboy Bebop)). Anyway, it's covered, so that's awesome, and it's right near Michele's apartment.

The one bit of bad news for ichiP! (and it's not even that bad): our NYCC show was moved to Sunday at 11 instead of Saturday at 3:30, so that schedule reads true. But! We did get all the badges we asked for, so that's AWESOME.

So, overall, good day. And tomorrow, if it doesn't get rained out, Mets and Phillies with Lou and Amy! ♥ If it does, that's fine, too, we'll think of something fun to do, I'm sure.

Mets 2, Phillies 1.

Today's game was awesome!

Met Amy and Lou outside Citi Field just before 1:00. Lou was still waiting for her other friend to show up, so Amy and I went inside. We headed straight to our seats, more or less. I remembered to stop at Box Frites for some fries. They were nothing special, but the bacon sauce they came with, DEAR GOD, it was amazing. I also had a beer, which I needed, because the fries were salty and it was hella humid.

The Mets starting hitting early and fairly often. Jose led things off with a single and a steal, and made it to third but didn't score. Some other Mets also found themselves in scoring position, but they just weren't getting the hits or even the sac flies they needed.

On the Phillies' end, not much happened! R.A. Dickey had his stuff today, and threw 5 1/3 perfect innings before he lost a hitter on a walk. He made it through the rest of the sixth, and took his no-no into the seventh (cue frustration and simultaneous exhaling). His pitches were getting up there, his knucklers weren't knuckling, and all that. Phillies scored a run in that seventh inning, though, but notch another QS for Dickey!

But it's okay because the Mets came right back in the bottom half. We were sitting in just-fair territory in right field, so we didn't see it happen, but Valentino Pascucci (who?!) drove it over the wall to tie the game. In the eighth inning, David Wright doubled in a run just fair up the third-base line, and wound up stealing third.

Acosta nearly blew the save in the ninth, getting two quick outs, but then putting two on, but held on for the save. Bobby Parnell got the win. I feel so bad for Dickey: he has so many quality starts, but never gets the run support he needs to turn those into wins. How do you do that to a pitcher whose plate music is The Imperial March and has named one of his bats Orcrist the Goblin Cleaver?!

There was an offer to stay for the second game with the ticket stubs from the first -- the Mets and Phils were rained out yesterday -- and it would have been $20 for a field-level seat. As tempting an offer as it was (two games against the Phillies and one on field level for less than $35?! YES PLEASE), I decided to go home, not knowing how to kill those three hours (and I was starting to get a headache).

Probably the best part of the game was honoring Sgt. Dakota Meyer, y'know, the Marine who was recently awarded with the Medal of Honor last week? They told his story, listed everything he had done, and just... wow. Everyone was on their feet; Amy and I agreed that the Marines uniforms are the coolest-looking of all the Armed Forces (it is IMPOSSIBLE to look anything but badass in a Marines uniform, and rightly so: they're trained to be badass).

And now there's drama to deal with. Sigh. Hopefully it's all a big misunderstanding.
