They're... behaving?
( I'm weirded out. )
At the end of the first week of exercising, I'm pretty proud of myself. I tripped all over myself during dansu practice today and forgot all the steps to shit that I'm supposed to know -- really, I don't know what was going on -- so I probably didn't work as hard as I could have, but I did all five days without missing one and without complaining. Having my inspirational phrase de la semaine (as opposed to du jour because I can't think one up every day) has really helped. This week it's "Pain is weakness leaving the body," which is a saying of the US Marine Corps. When I have to rest between sets, I imagine a drill instructor over metelling me yelling at me to get the fuck back up until I get back up and start moving again (even if I need to stop). Just one look at the phrase on my whiteboard really helps to get me going. To be honest, I'm really surprised it worked! I'm going to change it for next week's workout, but it's not from the Marine Corps, so I hope it doesn't fail me. :D
Dansu's not gonna work forever, though. Eventually I'm going to need to switch up the cardio. Any suggestions? I know for certain I don't have the endurance to go for a run yet (I was always a sprinter, not a distance runner. Maybe next month) but something I can do in my bedroom is good, like jumping rope. I'm going to need exercises to push my limits, too, once I get used to the ones I'm doing. Anyone have suggestions for things to do other than "more reps"? What are your favorite (or most ass-kickingly good for you) exercise to do?
I have no idea what lit the fire under me but I'm sure glad it did!
