Good thing Steve told me about it.

So I met up with about THIRTY people in Penn Station around noon yestertoday. Lots of people from the film were there, including Mario, so I got my copy. YES! (I watched it again as soon as I got home; the outtakes and all the extras were very yay. Hurray for DVDs!) It was nice seeing everyone again. There were lots of unfamiliar face, too, but I made friends.

When we finally mobilized, we headed for Central Park for our picnic. Since it rained, the ground was wet and gross, so we chose a drying rock near 59th St. We ate (SUGARRRRRR ... and udon noodles) and went on the swings and see-saw and stuff, goofed off a bit (the point of the game was to hit Adam with the giant ball). I've got pictures of Kenshin Chris and Boot Chris on the swings. They both spun around until they got so dizzy that they couldn't stand.

After the park, we walked down to the Nintendo Store in Rockefeller Center. I had mentioned on the Temple of Light forum that I was going to check it out this weekend, and it was by sheer coincidence that the lot of us went. Mario walked in playing his PSP. I have video (there's no audio on it, though; I took it with my camera, so.)! It was nice in there. I stared at a screen showing clips from Twilight Princess, and then Steve called me upstairs to take a look at something. I hoped that it was a life-sized Link for Venus to glomp, but alas. It was only a gold Gameboy SP with a Triforce on it signed by Shiggy himself. Wait.... did I say "only"?

I bowed before its greatness. No, really. I was on my knees, trying to figure out how to take the entire podium home with me. But because of all the systems on display (including a Gameboy that had been through the Gulf War), even though they took up a tiny portion of the store, it had this museum feel to it, and I didn't appreciate that. Yes, there were plenty of places to play games. Yes, they were selling merchandise (Nintendo dominoes? LOL! Okay, but Luigi and Link were not getting ANY love. WTF, not even t-shirts?!), but it felt like a museum just for that.

And there weren't NEARLY enough life-sized Links around.

I was arguing with someone over the graphics of Twilight Princess. Even though I like how the game is done, I liked Wind Waker's style, too. The attention to detail, as I've said COUNTLESS times before, is really incredible and amazing. The colors were nice, too, out there and bold because of the cel shading. I especially loved Ganondorf's character design, and I think the cel shading worked wonders for him. The other person pointed to the screen and said something like, "This is how Zelda's always been, and this is how Zelda should be." Funny, I don't remember it looking ANYTHING like that twenty (oh my GOD) years ago. Carrie, who was in control of the clips and stuff, pointed out that when it came to Wind Waker, more girls seemed to like the style than boys. Interesting. Until she pointed it out, I hadn't noticed that, at least, with my boys and girls, it's true. Anyway.

I heard music calling me. Steve and I -- on opposite ends of the store -- both heard it and perked right up, trying to find its source. We met in the middle of the second floor, near the stairs all, "You heard it, too!" and then we had a good laugh. We decided that the place really did look like too much of a museum and that we didn't have NEARLY enough money to be spending our time there, so we went back downstairs, where we recognized that the BGM had changed to Zelda II Overworld. Yay nerddom. :3

Since I mentioned Link and I'm OMGTEHZELDAFANGRRL, I once again went back to the TV screen showing the Twilight Princess stuff. And then, oh my gosh, I saw ... stuff. No spoilers, cuz I know people who don't want them are reading, but I was in the Nintendo store, so IT DOESN'T COUNT against me. But WOW. It was so wonderful and so smooth, and I nearly fainted. No, seriously. I went weak in the legs and I couldn't see straight, and if Steve's arm weren't there for me to grab, I would have fallen backwards.

Of course, I watched the rest of it from the floor. XD Everyone kept asking if I was alright. Steve was all "Yeah. She just saw Link and nearly passed out." And everyone, understanding my OMGTEHZELDAFANGRRLness, understood why I nearly fainted. We left shortly after that, and went to Kinokuniya instead, where we met up with part of the group that (was cosplaying and) split off before. It was a bit embarrassing. >.>;;

After Kinokuniya, we hit up Chinatown. We went to some mall place, and at this point, I was feeling pretty tired. My feet were really starting to hurt, and my non-sleep plus sugar crash were starting to catch up with me, so I looked out of it. Kenshin Chris bought these FANTASTIC dumplings with lots of hot sauce on them that were horrible to handle. He let me have like, forty of them. Haha... no, they were only five for a dollar -- WOW! -- and he bought about ten dollars' worth, eventually, so he had tons to share. So, Mosco St., between Mott and Mulberry. Great stuff.

Took some more amusing pictures, walked out in the rain..... A giant crab and sparring lobsters made for delays. We hit up an arcade, and that's when everyone started to split. I got one round of DDR in.... I never played Sakura before, and I really couldn't hear in that place, so it was hard, even on Light Mode. I got through it somehow, even though the guy next to me had given up because he didn't mean to play it on Standard. I cleared it all by myself, and I was very proud. Unfortunately, it wasn't to last. I was overtired from Sakura, and the guy -- again -- screwed up Cartoon Heroes, so we failed.

Then I decided to go home. I have a list of about ten screennames to pass on to people, but I'll get around to that tomorrow.... I slept on the train. I was too drained.

Of course, when I got home, I popped the DVD in right away, and after watching the movie, which is still hilarious the second time, I watched all the extras, which were even better! Oh, happy times.

But now's a time... for bed (if I decide not to write or trudge through some more game.....)
