Tired. Again.
Oct. 13th, 2005 12:38 amI went to Olua's sci-fi club Tuesday and had fun. I met all the people she told me about and joked around and it was just like my club(s) only the room was a LOOOOOT smaller. I wanted to cry for them because they were so crowded. I told Phill that Tuesday night and he said, "Don't. You'd probably flood it." LOL I would. Anyway, we went back home (yay N16 and finding a new route to NCC and the 55 was RIGHT there waiting) and she fed me, and she really wasn't kidding about there being tomatoes in everything. She had tomatoes in her freaking RICE. XD But it was good rice, so it's okay. And chicken that wasn't fried. <3_<3
I think I've developed a fear of grease. :::wrinkle::: I avoid fried foods if I can, and anything that even smells too greasy turns my stomach. My mom made steak today, and I'm usually a steak FIEND, but it was sitting under some french fries, so I didn't touch it.
Anyway. We decided to kick back with some good ol' RP, and because we were so into it, I missed my bus. XD Not like it made a difference anyway because even if I'd taken the 55 to Hempstead, I would have had to sit around for a half hour for the 6. My hike down Jerusalem, down Greenwich, over onto Fulton (shortcut!) was much mor involving, and better because had I walked to the bus terminal instead of turning down Fulton, I TOTALLY would have missed the bus. I HATE Nassau. And then when I got home, we played some more and I went to sleep at 2:30, after she passed out.
I was so happy because I could sleep! I didn't have to get up until noon on Wednesday. My shift started at two, and I did my two-hour thing, one to get ready, one to get moving. The first one went swimmingly. The second one, not so well.
I saw the bus go by when I was a block away from the stop, but it was okay because it was only about five after one, and I had LOADS of time. I hobbled up the block, and the bus came relatively quickly; I was surprised. By the time I got to the train station, it was about twenty after one. The train came quickly and decided to leave quickly as well. Wow.
Between 179 and 169 it all went to crap. ;-; We were maybe a minute out of the station when half of the lights in the car went off. This is a common occurance and didn't faze me in the least. Then the train slowed and came to a stop. Okay, signal issues. Don't know why, but sure. This happens all the time, nothing to worry about. But we didn't move, and we were sitting there for a while. A good long while. People started to get upset and groan and complain. And then we heard the conductor on the radio, saying how ALL the cars lost power; not just ours (I was in the conductor car, so I heard the whole exchange). And so, we were stuck. For TWENTY MINUTES. In the end, it turned out that because of all the rain, the tracks were flooded and that caused flooding in the train somehow (WHOA) and power was lost. On top of that, once we started moving again, we did so at a crawl. We pulled into 71st at 1:58, and I was supposed to start my shift at two. SIGH.
Conductor (for the fourth time): Once again, ladies and gentlemen, we seem to be experiencing a power outage. Once we regain power, we will be able to move. Thank you for your cooperation.
Random guy in the car: That's the fourth time he's said that. What, did someone new get on the train? We know, already!
I love New York.
At Continental, also, there was water pouring into the express tracks from above. Never have I had to use an umbrella while underground. :::grumble:::
I made it to work only fourteen minutes late (or at least, I clocked in at 2:14). Today was better than Friday; I was far less paranoid, for whatever reason, mostly because there wasn't much to do. "You can only adjust what's on the shelves but so much when there's no one in the store to mess it all up," I told myself. I agreed. But that's not to say I didn't do anything. Au contraire! I moved shelves (in other words, I "did a wall"), tied some balloons, learned how to gift wrap, a whole bunch of stuff. Not to mention I got to watch a lot more of the Hello Kitty DVD, so now I'm starting to memorize the stories. Let's see, there's Alice in Wonderland, Heidi, Aladdin and Gulliver's Travels. W00t! Heidi is my favorite cuz it's the gosh derned cutest one.
I still feel terrible with the Spanish-speaking customers. EVERYONE knows Spanish, even Evelise, although she won't speak it in public. But she knows it, and that's what counts. :/
I still want my Chococat bath set, even if the robe alone costs $50. It's just so soft and pretty...... <3_<3 And there's a shower curtain; I didn't see that! :3 MUST OWN. Ariana was telling me how she takes out what she needs for rent and food from her check and spends the rest in our store. She has four Hello Kitty watches, and one of them was $120. WOW. She mentioned how everyone's like that, and how I'm gonna be like that, too. I told her I didn't doubt it, and took a Chococat plush off the shelf to hug. YAY CHOCOCAT.
I don't know why I'm excited about the holiday line coming in at the end of the month.... oy.
But yeah, I closed. Nothing special there. Then I came home and somehow, three hours have passed. XD I don't have work tomorrow (since they overscheduled the week), so I can sleep in. YAY. ...night.
Edit: Tim strikes again (he's gotten prettier now that he's grown out his hair, I think [/fangirl]) and WTF is he saying in the last panel? Make with.... what? I'm sad because I've always been able to understand what he says.... T_T

cocodemunky had a good idea. I only know some of you in person for reals (and I'm terrible with names, so if I only know you from the internet, I may have forgotten yours. I'M SORRY). If you're feeling up to it and you're not absolutely SURE I know this about you already, comment with the following: first name (or what you prefer to be called), a picture, a voice clip (purely optional, lol), and what you (lol) smell like. No, seriously. If you smell like soap, tell me that you smell like soap. Besides, smelling like soap is good and there are all different kinds of soaps that small all different ways. I happen to smell of Dove and Ivory. ^_^
