Excuse me, but I don't think it sounds like such a big deal anymore. It still sucks, though.
( Customers )( Coworkers )( Parents )( Moving out and Phill )There was a fire at work yesterday. Sometime after nine, I was with Eka behind the register and I asked her if she smelled burning wood, because I did. She didn't, but before long, the smell got stronger. We thought one of the old registers finally died, but the smell wouldn't go away. We actually had to clear out the store because we didn't know what it was. Everything behind the register seemed fine, and there were no outlets or electrical things anywhere else (aside of the lights but they were all okay) to catch fire; there was nothing visible. We thought, then, that it was something in the wall, especially because there's ongoing construction above us, but the smell was strongest near Register 1, where Eka was standing. We couldn't figure it out.
I got kinda dizzy and went to go to the back but Fernando flipped out and everyone thought I'd fainted so they called loads of security and no one believed I didn't faint. Another reason to like, KILL Fernando.
One of the security guards found the problem. One of the barely-visible lights had fallen out of its place and onto a box, which overheated and caught fire. It was in the bottom corner of the counter, on the other side of the counter from where Eka was standing. We closed the store for a half-hour or so. In the meantime, since there was no one around to mess everything up, I tried to clean. No one bothered to help me, though. :/
I need to get back to knitting now. And laundry. And stuff.
Oh, and I lit one of the candles Naty gave me so now it smells -- just subtly enough -- of cinnamon in here. <3
