401(k) help, plz.
Nov. 8th, 2006 12:43 pmIt's one less thing I have to speak with Flores about, as a 401(k) package arrived for me in the mail on Monday.
I'm not sure how this stupid thing works, though. I have yet to read all the information it's come with (I've gotten through half of it), but I'm still coming up confused. Here's where I'm stuck: I understand that I can contribute a certain amount or percentage of my earnings per pay period (up to a total of $15,500 a year (which may increase after 2007)). I thought, though, that employer matching contributions would be one hundred percent, but apparently, the company's claiming they'll do only fifty percent. That kinda sucks because I'd much rather have $31,000 at the end of a year than $23,250. The next bit is that "in applying this matching percentage, only salary deferrals up to 6% of your compensation paid will be considered." Does that mean that, say I earn $500 gross in a check, and contribute all of it, that only $30 would be considered to be matched, and in the end I'd only get $15? If someone could clear that up for me, that'd be great.
If that's the case, fuck you so hard, Sanrio, you cheap shits. Always trying to cut corners. WHERE'S MY DAMNED HEALTH INSURANCE.
