It was amazing. Food and sleep and VGL and ... yay!
Friday wasn't much of anything. Phill showed up about an hour earlier than I had expected, and we missed Katie's visit to the city, because she got stuck with a flat. By the time she told me this, we were already starving, so we went for pizza. Kates, I'm sorry I missed you, and we'll DEFINITELY hang out the next time you're in town! ♥
Baseball, pizza, and beer. YES. And then sleep!
Yesterday wasn't special, initially. I woke up early when Phill left to head to the gym; the hall light accidentally shone in my face and woke me up. >:( And then I discovered that there's no such thing as Saturday morning cartoons anymore, because ONE channel had them, and they sucked. My childhood mourns. I passed out again a few hours later to make up for lost sleep, though, so yay.
Video Games Live was AMAZING (and I looked adorable). There were shitty parts to it, like our seats being ALL the way on the side, so we were stuck behind the speakers and couldn't see the screen (the experience was enhanced by video along with the music), and the family behind us -- even the adults! -- wouldn't shut up for TWO SECONDS. Really, if you're going to see a musical performance, don't you think it'd be a good idea to listen? You can chat with your stupid siblings any time you want! There were also the people who would shout out randomly during the performance, and that irked me; when I'm in concert mode, I'm in fucking concert mode.
I wore a skirt yesterday, all right? Concerts are SRS BIZ. ... Still, that didn't stop me from cheering along with the crowd at exciting moments. I did break concert etiquette, I'll admit, but I didn't shout out "BOOM! HEADSHOT!" as others did. :/
But the good parts were REALLY good. The music, of course, was beautiful: well-written and well-played. I even enjoyed stuff that I wasn't familiar with, like the Castlevania encore. I told Phill -- who's a Castlevania fan. It was one of the pieces he got excited over -- that I never realized what an amazing score it had! There were some audience participation segements, too, which helped to break up the otherwise somber and stuffy atmosphere of such a performance. So, yeah, good stuff. ... I kinda wanna go again when VGL hits Long Island in September. :3
Today wasn't very special. I was in a very blah mood for most of the day -- on a day when I very much should NOT be blah -- and I felt bad about it, which made me even ... blahier. I was amused for a few moments when we stopped to watch the planes near LaGuardia: someone had taken his dogs out for a run in the grass; three Dalmatians. One of them was just like "Yeah, whatever. Grass." The second was doing nothing but EATING the grass, and the third was running from the moment it jumped out of the car until the moment it jumped back in.
"Look, dalmatians." "DOGS WITH FRECKLES!"
We noticed the second dog eating grass. "Look, it thinks it's a cow. ... It's white with black spots, and eating grass. Maybe it IS a cow."
That's when the third dog jumped out of the car and was off and running. It ran around the field in a huge circle a couple of times without stopping. It jumped for greatjustice height to get the low branches of nearby cherry trees -- and got them! -- and sent petals flying everywhere. When a plane neared, the dog crouched, and as it flew past, the dog chased it, and even jumped after it. It was hilarious. Sadly, it was over too quickly. As its owner called the dog back, it circled once more, then ran back to the car and bounced in with a graceful leap. They drove away, and, suddenly bored, we followed shortly after.
Dinner was at Green Field, which is such a great restaurant. The waiters come to your table and slice off hunks of meat. No getting up or ordering or waiting (really) required. It's beautiful! Alas, no rabbit was around today, but the skirt steak was excellent, and cooked to perfection! I had two pieces of tiramisu for dessert. *____*
Naturally, well before I would have liked it to end, the weekend was over. But I had a great time.
Happy anniversary, sweetheart. I love you. And thank you for a wonderful weekend. ♥
