To add onto my awesome sew mounting skills, yesterday, Kathleen tried to teach me stitchy/pin. Tried. It sounded simple enough, especially with a cross-stitch: put all the pins in the same line. Cake, right? WRONG. Somehow, I could not get the thing to lie straight to SAVE MY LIFE. It didn't help that the person who did the cross-stitch miscounted, so the upper-right corner was off by two stitches, completely fucking with my perception. Augh. But yeah, I couldn't do it and was miserable.

It put me in a bad mood for a few hours, until I realized that next Thursday -- eight days from today -- is nine years to the day since I first laid eyes on Phill. Awww. If anyone would have told me what the next nine years -- hell what the next six months -- would have brought me, I'd've laughed 'til I turned blue. Glad I was wrong. :D

Today, and through Monday, Kathleen is off, so Mike started teaching me things instead, mostly the different kinds of mountings, how to put mats together, and so forth. The mats are pretty straightforward, and require little more than a few well-placed pieces of double-sided tape. The actual mounting process is a little tougher.

I'm scared I'm going to slice my finger with a razor blade, though. After Olua's evil rat -- NO IT DOES NOT HAVE A NAME OR A GENDER. FUCKER -- biting me in that finger, I realized just how important it is to cosplaying. And I went and bought some fabric for Relm today, so. Yeah. But scared to death I'm gonna cut myself. I don't know what I'm more scared of, though: bleeding all over someone else's artwork, or temporarily losing the ability to place pins. PINNING IS THE HARDEST AND MOST TIME-CONSUMING PART. D:

But everything else is cool. I just have to learn how to control the backing paper when I'm using the super-sticky double-sided tape, and I'll be golden. ... Until I get to cut glass and fuck up doing that. XD But I got to finish a piece by myself! Woohoo! I did pretty well, and the only thing I couldn't do -- after the art was put in the mats and the glass was cut -- was strip away the backing. I'M GOING TO CUT MYSELF. DDDDDD:

And then I bought fabric for Relm. I'm a little upset because the lights that the fabric was under turned it a different shade of red than I thought I was getting, so I had to go for a different color lining, but it'll work. I've got enough for the cape and the hat, I've decided fuck it, I'll make the pants out of the stuff I have, and then I only have to find green for the top. And buy a brush from work. :D No, I'm not gonna be Relm for Halloween -- there's no way I'll finish in time -- but I'm excited. And I need to cosplay over the winter so I'm not all frantic again. I did fairly well this year, I think. Harumph.

Finally, someone FINALLY uploaded an ichiP! video from NYAF. It's only thirty seconds, though, and I'm on the far end. *tearbend* Now if only Michele would get around to doing the same.... :3

Food now.
