Hey, everyone.
Dec. 8th, 2010 12:44 amAll the Decembertime cards are done. I got to a mailbox a little after the last pickup today though, so the ones I did last-minute on the train won't be officially "in the mail" until Wednesday. That said, those're all domestic -- international was taken care of at the post office around four-fifteen -- so you'll have them Saturday at the latest (Monday, out of the States? I don't know, it always seems to take different amounts of time. I usually allow a week). This year sees a new record in least distance travelled as well: a whopping FIVE MILES (8 km) across Queens. Whoo! I could have been a creeper and dropped it off in person on my way home. XD
I've had Beatles songs in my head since Sunday, mostly A Hard Day's Night, I Want to Hold Your Hand, and Yellow Submarine. The blame lies solely on all that Beatles Rock Band I was playing at Abi's house. I was mostly Ringo. orz Everyone got to sing the songs I wanted before me, the other ones I wanted weren't there, and my arm wanted to fall off three songs into the guitar on easy (because I'm crap at rhythm games. YEAH. I KNOW. I wanted to switch and play lefty to give my right arm a break, but that would have been even more disastrous). Drums are easy enough, even if I can't pedal to save my life, and we use an extra person to play it. |D (The opening sequence to the game is pretty amazing, and yes, I squealed like a piggy every time it showed them playing at Shea. *dreamy sigh*) Not complaining in the slightest.
Oh, and Abi and Laura gave me late birthday and Decembertime gifts. I got a METS SCARF from Laura -- yes, an article of cold-weather clothing for a sport that's played in the summer -- a little baseball!Domo keychain that I love and couldn't stop playing with, a Ravenclaw patch and a bias tape maker. Laura explained how she found one of her mother's and the thing is awesome. I mean, it sounds awesome. Scrap fabric no more, but perfectly matching bias tape? Um, YES PLEASE and thank you. Abi got me a Precious Moments Canada doll. ♪ She's so cute, and already at home on my temporary (unorganized) figure shelf.
December's settled in: it's absolutely freezing (cough thirty-two degrees cough) and windy. Most of the day at work today I was bundled up in my hoodie, fleece and scarf, despite being inside a building. I can understand people disbelieving I could be that cold, but to ask if I were cold at all is a bit silly, isn't it? People don't usually throw on more things to wear if they're not cold. Didn't matter, my fingers were still like ice so typing -- and therefore actual work -- was slow going.
Most people tell me that being warm makes them sleepy; I'm the opposite: the colder it is, the more lethargic I become (sometimes I swear I'm cold-blooded: I could spend the entire day doing nothing but lying on a sunny rock in the summer and be the happiest person in the world (I don't like than I tan so quickly, though. That's annoying)). I was already tired -- my coffee did nothing this morning -- and more tired on top of that. It was awful. Maria offered me tea, Gideon brought me a Red Bull, and the two together was a huge mistake. I was alertish (which was good), but I had a caffeine headache from having too much (says the girl who would down a three-liter bottle of soda by herself if given half the chance), and my poor eyes were so open when all they wanted to do was be closed; they started drying out so it was uncomfortable to blink, so I was hardly worth a damn either way. They still feel kinda gross, ew.
One of the students I helped said she'd pray for me (in the good way). I told her if she could pray for warmer weather instead, I'd appreciate it much more. LOL RELIGION AND MY LACK THEREOF.
I wound up falling out for about an hour around a quarter to nine -- several hours later -- but I only needed to shut my eyes for about ten minutes before I started feeling better. I'll also call it an early night tonight, maybe have the lights out within the next half-hour. That'd be lovely.
Two more days, and then an awesome weekend of driving everywhere. Will this room ever be immaculate again this year? LOL Probably not. I don't know when the next uninterrupted weekend'll be.
