Katsu, day one.
Feb. 18th, 2011 10:23 pmSo far, so good. :D
We started out at six in the morning, but had to drop by my house for a couple of things, including apples to hold our appetites until we got on the Turnpike. Because my house isn't as far south as Kiera's, we didn't have to go on the Southern State, but could get there other ways. I-95 south, right? Cool, just take the BQE to the Verrazano and I'm halfway there.
Only it's a quick exit for the BQE right after the exit-only 82nd St. exit lane, and with the morning rush, I kinda missed it. And because the next exit was 31st St., and there were no left turns allowed because it just became seven o'clock, I had to go a few miles out of the way. But we were okay, and even though I was drowsy, I made it to the Jersey-Delaware border.
We had breakfast around nine. It was good.
Es' turn to drive, and I misunderstood the (incorrect) directions she had written, so we wound up taking a wrong turn. It turned out okay, though, because that road led us to where we wanted to go anyway. ETA was noon, we got here at 11:45. Hurray, ahead of schedule!
The room was ready right away, so we checked in and unloaded. Showers, unpacking, fun times. And, summarily, Laura and Erica also kinda sharing the room, and so I had to wait for them a bit. It was okay, though, even if I was on the at-door reg line at 3:40 and the ichiP! panel started at four.
THE PANEL WAS AWESOME. We taught Cruel Angel's Thesis, and the new clips (including half-speed) worked really well. Most of the crowd had the dance solid by the time it was over, and I swore that the ones who didn't would know it in the morning, because it takes a night to sleep on. The panel after us was also para -- there are a LOT of para panels, but they're all today, oddly -- and we hung around a little bit.
Es and I went to the Hetalia shoot. I changed into Toronto!Canada, because I didn't have the proper Seychelloise attire (i.e., I left my shorts at home and I looked stupid in the leggings). FASTEST CHANGE EVER, I love cosplaying boys.
I surveyed the Dealer's Room and Artist Alley after that. Not much, but I can finally replace my Canada button, and get a couple of other cute ones, AND some cell phone charms. Hurray! Maybe by some of that cute bento shit....
So at 8:30 Laura and Erica were supposed to come up to the room for things. They didn't show up until 9:15, and everyone else had already left for food because we were all starving. I thought Laura and Erica would just be a few minutes and I would catch my friends: they wound up staying for a half hour. And Esmeralda texted me at 9:40 like "Oh, we're eating now."
...and you didn't think HEY SHE'S NOT HERE LET'S ASK WHAT SHE WANTS.
They just came back, so I'mma go. At least I got some sewing done.
