FUCK THAT GAME
May. 22nd, 2012 01:34 amI ain't even mad the Devils won. I'm not. I'm mad that nothing was being called on them and -- yes, the Rangers got away with some shit too -- but I think they made up a new penalty called "touching the puck while wearing a white sweater in Jersey" because
MOTHER OF GOD
everything was getting called against them tonight. They came off a short-handed shift, they went right back on. They were on the short end of a five-on-three at one point. And while that had no direct effect on the score, I'm sure as shit it had an effect on their morale. And when they weren't playing four on their side, they just generally looked like ASS. They're a slow-to-start team, yes, and they're a defensive team, yes, but this was just gross.
There were fights tonight. The Rangers hadn't scrapped all playoffs and there were two fights tonight (McDonagh and Henrique early on; Callahan and Kovalchuk later).
As for the viewing party, it would have been a lot of fun had the Rangers been semi-competent tonight. It was very subdued from the get-go, with the Devils scoring first, eight minutes into the game. The final was 4-1, and after that 1 was the quietest goal celebration I'd ever heard.
And the game was BOOOOOOORIIIIIIING to boot. Augh, just so much BAD.
On the bright side, I got these way cool Lundqvist and Girardi shirts (I was torn between G and McD, but the McD shirts were in a weird color, so I settled on G. I think I like him better anyway), and a rally towel. The drunks were entertaining, as usual, and the First Hockey Game guy next to me was like "I should go to more games! :D" Yes. More brown people! I also met a nice Islander fan on the way home.
So Game Five is Wednesday, and Game Six is Friday and JESUS FUCK this is probably gonna go to seven games motherfucking again.
