Random bitching.
Mar. 24th, 2005 02:39 pmNot much has been going on. The new computer came back, which is great, because now I can, well, do stuff, but it sucks because I have to share. I don't mind sharing, but, well, how to explain. Wasting endless amounts of time online is what I do for entertainment, and everyone has his or her own form of entertainment. Mom has her Lifetime movies, Dad falls asleep while attempting to watch TV shortly after dinner (awww), Ingrid talks on the phone more than I'm online, which is an Guinness-worthy accomplishment, Matt and David probably smoke up or something, I don't know. Me, I go online. I talk to my friends, just like Ingrid talks to hers. I have my screen, just like Mom has hers. Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with that. And I do other things, besides. Yesterday I did a bunch of costume work (and I have to get a move on on today, to be honest). I play games. I read. And sometime in the near future, work will start and then I'll have that, which is more than I can say for some people living here.
But see, I don't have my entertainment all to myself. It's a weird system in this house; Ingrid always has the phone (and if she doesn't and it rings, it's more than likely for her), Mom always has the living room TV, Dad always has the sunroom TV. Regardless of whoever may have been using it. Mom comes home, she snatches her TV. Dad comes home, he snatches his. Ingrid, well, she's always home. Matt and David do whatever, I don't know what they do, nor do I really care too much. Point is, their entertainment is always readily available. Mine? I have to give it up when someone asks (true, Ingrid gives up the phone when Mom needs it, but she almost always takes it right back). Then I get all moody, especially when my conversations get interrupted. Finding something else to do -- suddenly -- is not necessarily easy, even when there are things I should be finishing. I don't know; I become unfocused. I don't have the patience for reading or Pikmin, and especially not sewing, as I'm more than liable to stick myself with a needle when I'm not thinking clearly. ... At least I don't have to sew anymore velcro squares. That was TOUGH.
I sound like a spoiled brat, but I don't care. My point is valid on some level, no matter how small. I should be allowed to have my entertainment when I want it, just like everyone else. :::firm nod:::
Onto happier things. I-Con approaches! There are only about fifteen days left now; it's very exciting. Plus, I'm visiting Katie on MONDAY of that week, so we have plenty of time to be friendly -- to make up for not visiting this month -- and work on Fred's costume, lol. I can't wait to go around to Kelly and the Union all costumed. ^_^ Tomorrow, I'm supposed to hang out with Alex and Seto, who I haven't seen for AGES, to do a bit of costume shopping and to be in each other's presences.
As for my costumes, well, I redid the back of Link's shield to make it nicer and more closely resemble its design in the game (as opposed to flat gray like I've seen in official art). I've got to give the sword hilt a once-over because the paint's chipping again. One day, I'm going to get wise and spray the thing. I've added velcro to the costume, which will, hopefully, keep my scabbard in place, instead of sliding down my back, like when it was peacebound last year (Hmmm. How are they going to peacebind me this year, I wonder?). I may have also mentioned (not sure if I did) that I added velcro to the shield so I can stow it on my back and carry things with -- gasp -- two hands! Reka's set, I have to once-over the wrench, which will take a few hours, mostly for allowing the paint to dry in this less-than-warm weather. Secret project is NEARLY finished. I do have a ways to go with it, cuz some things are not simple (more sewing and a possible paint project loom in the future) and some things are (adding a few buttons). I will have it done, though, one way or another. I don't think I'll be able to show it in the cutesy manner I had once imagined, as JJ lacks black pants. I've tried to take pictures of him with his navies on, in less than great lighting, but my camera flash always reveals the truth. Sigh. Maybe I'll get him black pants for his birthday. Early. >.>;;
He turns two on April 21. He's so cute. His vocabulary is slowly but steadily growing, too.
Where is Spring? Yesterday's precipitation attack left the ground wet for most of the day, but it led to a bit of snow. It's cloudy with breaks today, so the snow's mostly melted, but still. Less than ten days until April and this is what happens..... Okay, I'm talking about weather... time to go. ^_^
