PS forum member CoCo ([livejournal.com profile] cocodemunky) gets a special post all about her because she was cool and made me a Zelda layout for my journal. As you can see, I'm not using it right now. My choice was based on more of a "VENUS LIKES BLUE" thing than "Venus likes Zelda" thing. The latter is a bit of a "duh" thing, especially with my making at LEAST one Zelda reference per post. Okay, we all know it's not that bad, but there are some days when you wanna smack me for mentioning it, admit it.

I kept the code in case I wanna switch to it later, but in the meantime, thank you CoCo. You rule. ^_^

I had a job interview today. Or, more accurately, I was supposed to have one. I didn't go. WHY?!?! Last night, for whatever reason, I couldn't get to sleep. I was up past three. But I finally drifted off to Dreamyworld, figuring that on my way, I'd catch an extra forty-five minutes on the train. Nope.

At 7:42 -- I checked the clock because it was an insane hour for this to happen -- there's a loud banging on my bedroom door. I nearly fell over trying to answer, and shouted "WHERE'S THE FIRE" in the hallway. The loud banging was my dad's way of letting me know he'd slipped five dollars under my door for lunch after my interview this morning.

There are several problems with this:
1) I actually thought the house was burning down because of the urgency behind the knocks. And you know how scared I am of fire.
2) He could have left a note, which would have been the sensible thing. My carpet is purple; green (or whatever color the note would have been) sticks out against purple.
3) It's rude to wake me up EVER. People who have made that mistake know I'm VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY mean when woken up. Picture Trogdor and Rather Dashing, without Trogdor's politeness. That's right, folks, it's just the BURNiNATiNG (no morning breath jokes plz). But yeah, I had an interview! Why disturb my sleep!?
4) This list is already too long.... -_-;

My dad's just a very nonsensical fellow. And he's old, which contributes. :3

So after letting him know that *maybe* banging on my door wasn't a good idea, I managed to get back to sleep somehow. Not an hour later, my mother screamed "VENUS! OMG DDI YEW NO U HAV FIEV DOLARS UNDER YUR DOR!!!!" o_o# No, Mom, I didn't. You only heard me yelling at Dad about it. (She did! I heard her talking to him while I was still trying to find out where the fire was.) And I went back to sleep again, but not for very long.

Nine o'clock exactly. The interview was at noon, by the way, so I planned on waking up at ten: one hour to get ready, the other hour to get moving, even though I knew neither would take the full hour alloted. So, nine o'clock. But I forgot today is Tuesday. I remembered today was Tuesday when a lawnmower screeched outside. Ah, that's right. Tuesday is the gardener's day, and from April to October, he mows the lawn on Tuesday mornings without fail. Of course, I can't sleep with such noise, and the mowing takes *exactly* an hour.....

Ten o'clock. I made my way downstairs looking much like a zombie, having gotten such little, disjointed sleep. Ingrid was sitting on the couch, so I curled up next to her and put my head on her leg. She pet my head and got me to explain and then gave me a big hug. XD Of course, I had to call Toys to explain why I wasn't going to make my interview. I decided to use the good ol' asthma excuse again.

411. "What borough?" "Manhattan." "What listing?" "Toys 'R' Us." And then I got a recorded message giving me an 800 number. I called the 800 number and let Ingrid talk and it was indeed Guest Services for Toys 'R' Us.... IN FLORIDA. WTF? So I tried again. "What borough?" ":::gritted teeth:: MANHATTAN." "What listing?" "Toys 'R' Us in Times Square." "....I'll get you an operator!" Waiting, waiting... and then I get a recorded voice giving me the same phone number. >.o Okay....

I called that number again and instead of letting Ingrid take control, I did things myself. Turns out, there was an option for information about the Times Square store that I don't know if Ingrid selected. But I selected it and got a second phone number that I called, and gave the phone to Ingrid again. This time, she asked for Toys 'R' Us in Times Square and even though I'd asked for information about that store, she got yet a third number to call!

By now I was laughing at the sheer ridiculousness (lol every time I say that, I SWEAR it's not a word...) of the situation. What would happen if I were really sick?! But Ingrid, bless her, dutifully called.... and got a recorded message saying how the volume of calls was too high for anyone to be helped, and to expect a callback within the next twenty-four hours.

Click.

All this -- the waking up and the screaming and the mowers and the impossible phone system -- were too much for me to take, and I'm not in a nice place right now as it is to begin with. I gave it up as a bad job -- the position they'd hire me for, if they hired me, would be seasonal anyway -- so I went back up to my room. I left Kat a message on his AIM, but he's had an away message on all day (and as yet hasn't gotten back to me; I left him the message at twenty after ten) so I've got NO idea what's going on there. I took a shower and tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't for the longest.

Eventually, though, I managed, and when I woke up? I had a headache. -_-;;;;

Plus, there was a sci-fi party tonight in Bellmore (the N45 goes out there, apparently, which I could catch at Hempstead, but it runs like, once a DAY. Exaggerating again, but still) that I wanted to go to and figured would take my mind off of things and Olua's going and ALCOHOL cuz I need a drink and.... augh. Obviously, I'm sitting at home, nowhere near Bellmore. I've got pudding, though!

I need to stop having bad days. C'mon, Sanrio. You need to call me.
