I can't think of a title....
Apr. 17th, 2007 03:21 pmFirst off, happy birthday to
archaic_sage and
neo2469!! Make it an awesome one, you two!
I haven't saidmuch anything about what happened down in ol' Virginie this week, but I'm finally going to chime in. While I do think that what happened sucks, and while I wish friends, families, classmates, professors and others well from far (and as well as I can without knowing someone who either lost a friend, or someone who knows someone who lost a friend), I can't help but feel slightly soured, and not for the obvious reason.
See, twenty bucks says that if this didn't happen at such a high-profile school, it wouldn't get such high-profile coverage. If this happened at CUNY York, no one would give a shit. "Oh, twenty-three people were killed in Jamaica. ... But that's about average for a Wednesday, isn't it?" It'd be some little blurb in the newspaper for a couple of days, somewhere towards the back where people stop paying attention, and that would be it. It wouldn't be national or worldwide news. It'd be, forgive me, just another day (and then Al Sharpton would probably jump in with his usual cries. AUGH). 'Scuse me for being bitter, and you may flame me as necessary.
Why am I so bitter and removed from everything? I'm not THAT much of a robot, am I? Augh.
Still working on costume stuff. I'm very proud of my work, and I'm very proud that it's MY work. I don't know how long the next bit of the adventure will take me, but of course, I'll keep you unnecessarily updated as I go. :D
(I decided to rerererereread Vagabond from the start last night, and I'm laughing at how much I'm able to catch now. HAHA, as I get up to the first part with younger Link, Malon and Epona, Epona no Uta starts playing. Ace.)
