Funny how things work out.
Sep. 16th, 2008 01:13 amHighlights:
I bumped into many things, and many things bumped into me. First, I banged my knee on the printer drawer, which left a nice sore, deep purple bruise. Then, I hit the shopping cart on a railing I thought I was going to clear. No harm done, but a lot of loud clanging. Finally, while I was cleaning the aisles, one of the open-back frame kits jumped off of its hook and hit me square on the head. That wouldn't have been so bad if it were made out of plastic, but it was wood. HEAVY wood. I was dazed, and not only did I need help standing up, but I needed ice for the bump. Sigh.
My schedule got changed YET AGAIN, but very minor changes, and there's a reason for it this time:
Tue 9/16: 2:00-8:00 (WHAT I GET TO BE HOME BY NINE?!)
Sat 9/20: 3:00-9:30
Those are the changes. The reason is because someone quit. In the framing department, where I will be spending all of my time, now, there were five of us: Kathleen (the manager), Mike (the other sorta-manager), Jenn (the "senior" framer), Sandy (who's new like I am), and me. Jenn went to Florida on Thursday, and decided she wasn't going to come back, which means -- this is really funny -- y'know the job I hate? The one I've had for ten days that I can't stand? I'm being considered for a promotion to a FULL-TIME spot with STEADY HOURS and a RAISE. XD Jenn's position is open, so Sandy and I, then, are in a little bit of competition with each other for the spot.
Either way, I don't care what happens. If Sandy gets it, good for her, since that'll make it easier for me to find a different job. If I get it, good for me, because then I'll stop bitching about my hours and I'll never have to work eight straight days again. I'll have a schedule. It'll be glorious! I think I'm gonna hold off on job-hunting and submitting that notice about my availability for a little while, then.
Kathleen is doing well to earn my trust, and Sandy and I are becoming fast friends (or as much as we can be, anyway). I really hope I'm not doublecrossed; I liked not having essence of breakdown tonight. But yeah, possible AWESOME promotion ahead; keep your fingers crossed for me!
More progress in FF4: Cecil just found out he's half Japanese (Edge cracked me up: "I always thought he was a little odd, but... half Lunarian?" XDDD) and now they're a giant's intestines. Mmmm, warm. I wonder what the Lunarians called themselves before they moved to the moon. And despite my best efforts, I'm still underlevelled. Even though I'm about the same level I was on the last playthrough, the DS version is noticably different. I'd say I need another seven levels or so just to feel comfortable; four of my party dying in a RANDOM BATTLE is not cool.
Can't wait to finish the game so I can reeeeeead.
I'm straightening my hair on Thursday. :D It's been a year and a half since I did it last, so I can't wait to see how much it's grown! ^_^
Lowlights:
New!Facebook is really slowing down my computer. A LOT. One tab makes this thing nearly impossible to run, and it takes a good ten minutes just to end the process. :/ Stupid Facebook.
THE METS LOST AGAIN BECAUSE THEY SUCK and their lead is down to a mere half-game. Listen. I'm not GOING through last year's nonsense again. D:< (Oh, David. ♥)
I need to practice and I can't. I'm awfully tired. X_X
