Seven and a half hours in. I think I've more or less got the hang of Junctioning, but I've noticed that I can't get any of those neato status or elemental Junctioning things because my GFs don't HAVE them. o_O Is there any way they're taught and where the hell are the other GFs hiding? Seriously, I'm still stuck with Queza, Ifrit, and Shiva and I feel like a 'tard.

I keep getting stuck in Laguna's scenarios and wandering around for a half hour before I'm like "OH! There's a path!" Durrrr. I had to pause the game after I first discovered his Limit Break, though; I was laughing too hard. I can't imagine anyone swinging from a rope and shooting a gun with a SERIOUS STONY FACE like he had. Limit Breaks are serious business. :|

I can't put my finger on what, exactly, but it feels like there's something missing.

Kind of disappointed I didn't get so much as a phone call from someone today.... But it was raining and I don't want to get foamcore in that and risk ruining it, so I've got no secondary video game, either. And because it was so dark, I didn't get sewing done. It seems that the only break in the next WEEK will be on Friday. :/ So, my costume's not gonna get done (because I hate sewing under incandescent lights) and that's a major bummer.

I did get some reading done, though. I've borrowed a book on body language; it's an interesting and quick read. Y'know how I'm already really tomboyish? Apparently, even my gesturing has a masculine slant to it. XD Why am I so terrible at being a girl?! Not that I'd have it any other way, of course, but it's just amusing. How did I learn to be this way? What about it was so appealing and fitting for me?

:::shrug::: Okay, back to playing video games and watching baseball. :D I love that the Mets are in FIRST PLACE.

:D

Momo now strikes fear into my heart because I'm afraid of zombies. It's a good thing Sokka didn't eat him waaaaay back in 103 because then Sokka would have been a zombie and my heart would have shattered. >.>;; But yeah, zombie!Momo.

Is there any way they're taught and where the hell are the other GFs hiding?

Siren: Draw from Elvoret in Dollet during War
Brothers: Tomb of the Unknown King, near Deling City
Diabolos: Use the Magic Lamp Cid gives you
Odin: Go through Odin's ruins (Centra) and fight him in the time limit (do it before the Lunatic Pandora)
Tonberry: Fight a shitload of Tonberries at Odin's ruins
Cerberus: Sitting around in Galbadia Garden during big battle
Pandemona: Draw from Fuujin (Balamb)
Leviathan: Draw from NORG (after he shows himself)
Alexander: Draw from Edea (second fight)
Doomtrain: Collect 6 Malboro Tentacles, 6 Remedy+ and 6 Steel Pipes, then use Solomon Ring (found at Tears' Point)
Carbuncle: Draw from Igion near end of first disc
Cactuar: Defeat Jumbo Cactuar once you get the Ragnarok (island off coast of Centra)
Bahamut: Fight him on first visit to Deep Sea Research Lab
Eden: Draw from Ultima Weapon (second visit to DSRL)

...think I got them all.

If you miss any of the draw from bosses ones you can get them by drawing from the guardians in Ultimecia's Castle.

And I think you get to buy the items to teach the various Junction abilities when you get to Esthar, although it could be later (Timber pet shop once you have the Ragnarok and possibly Tonberry too). Refining cards helps get these items too.

Quick note: every ability is one a specific GF can gain in the process of distributing AP; it's just which ability each GF gets is different, with only the starting few being shared. You might need to break down and use a FAQ for telling which abilities you should focus on learning to unlock ones you want. Timber and Esthar's shops are indeed good at purchasing insta-learn-ability items, but said items only cover a few of the abilities anyways, most of them from the early sets.

Also of note: none of those purchasable ability giving items include ones for magic junctioning; you'll have to either refine cards for that (which is difficult), or just deal without. But since different GF's provide different areas you can stat-junction magic too, just by getting more GF's and junctioning them all to the same primary three person party is the easiest way of fixing that problem. So... yeah. Just get more GF's. :P

Also, get Doomtrain the moment you're able to. Miss any of the rest you want to and get them in the final dungeon if you so please, but get Doomtrain right away. He is the best GF in the game, IMO; summoning him is like instantly Malboro-ing every enemy in battle (especially once you level him up and get Boost), and there are far more enemies in this game susceptible to his status debuffs than most Final Fantasies let you get away with.

You can definitely buy the standard magic junctioning abilities from Timber Pet Shop late in the game (I remember getting them to fill out the gaps) - just HP-J, Mag-J, Vit-J and so on, though, not Elem Atk/Def & Status Atk/Def.

And yes - Doomtrain's definitely the best one of the lot (with Cactuar and Diabolos being close behind).

I was actually playing through the game again a few months ago, and it was the first time I truly attempted to do everything, including leveling up all the GF's as far as possible. So I didn't realize how completely awesome Diablos was until this playthrough. XD

It takes a lot of effort to level any GF to 100, but hitting everything on the battlefield for 9999 damage is totally worth it. In my previous runs, before I ever bothered leveling up Doomtrain either, I pretty much stuck only with Cactuar, and the generic high-hitting ones like Bahamut and Eden.

I know better now. :P
