Today was an interesting day at work. I was set to work tour photos with John (tomorrow I have to do it with Sean. AUGH), and on one of the tours, these people came in... and we asked them their last name, and they didn't understand, cuz they didn't speak English. I heard them talking, and *fanfare* it was French! So I started speaking to them in French. They said they didn't register for the tour, that their friend did, but she was sick. So I asked them for their friend's name (Françoise Simonin), and we found their registration and everything was hunky-dory, because one of the tour guides (whose turn it just so happened to be) also spoke French. When the tour went up, I was talking to Jennifer and Siho (the two running the tour desk), and we were talking about languages. I mentioned how I want to get into linguistics, and how I haven't spoken French since sophomore year in high school (six and a half years ago) and that it was a miracle that I remembered what I did. Whew! And it's never come in handy until today! I went on to say that I could understand Spanish without being able to speak a word, and that I could speak a little bit of Japanese, in Japanese. Siho was all "You can?" and I was surprised she understood me. "Yeah," I said, "But I've only been taking classes for a year." Turns out Siho's Japanese. And then she made fun of her mom. XD

Then there were these Australian kids who commented on how it's weird that Christmas is cold up here. I asked them to smuggle me some Vegemite next time they come back to New York. They laughed. ... What?! I've always wanted to try Vegemite since I saw it on Nickelodeon many summers ago. It looks interesting. ;-; I need to visit Australia. Try some Vegemite. Pet a koala. Enjoy summer in January.

I also met a Rockette today. The last tour I did, at 4:15, went up and I was waiting for Gus (who's ALSO Japanese... cuz you know, Gustavo is SUCH a Japanese name (his last name is Matsukawa)) to come inside so I could take pictures of him, Jennifer, Siho and Chang (another one of the tour guides). But then this mother and her two kids came in a few minutes later, all flustered. She was there for the 4:15 tour, and had tickets for the 5:00 show. She was a little upset because she'd been rushing and she lost her hat and... then we had to tell her that the tour was an hour and not half an hour like Ticketmaster told her it was. AND that she was late. Jennifer was super cool, though, and she said that she'd take them upstairs to meet a Rockette. And that "our professional photographer" would be more than happy to take their picture. o_O Professional? Well, kinda... it IS my profession. Ish. Anyway, so we went upstairs, and while the Rockette (whose name was also Jennifer and was obscenely tall) did her little tour bit, Jennifer the tour guide opened up the Roxy Suite for me, and I went in and looked around for a while. It was gorgeous! And there were pictures of the many famous people who've visited all around. I really gotta go on that tour one day....

And I wrote six pages! Yay!

Tomorrow's Christmas Eve, and though I'm working about six or seven hours, I get time and a half, so that's cool. And Saturday I get doubletime, WOOHOO! I'm so sad to see the job start winding down. :::sniffle::: But, on the bright side, that means there are only three more weeks till the Big PianoSquall Forum Meet!!! '05. YES.

Diana, my AIM is in my profile. Silly.

Edit:

OMG who remembers this show?! And

This is a great photo for reference. My costume will hopefully be as similar as it can be, minus the giant rack. Sorry, everyone. I'm little. No way my back'd be able to handle it. ;-;

Editedit: Wow... I just found the RPGW group on this here "Live" journal (I'm only being retarted because it's past my bedtime). I didn't know there WAS one! I started looking back through all the posts and wow, I found that picture of me as Reka that was taken at ConnectiCon. And people liked it! ^_^ I guess I'll be wearing it more often, then... and hopefully I'll find some RPGW fans that know who I am, so I'm not always saying "I'm-Reka-from-RPGW-it's-a-webcomic." like a robot. Which reminds me. Seto needs to fix my wrench (some mechanic I turned out to be?).
